Chapter Ten

Battle at the ford. Using precious virtue, A fireball is conjured, and the heart is blasted from the pursuing bandits charge. As the remaining turkhanate raiders mop up the bandit remnants Mazanakil is brought to bay in the middle of the river. A battle royal ensues. Hamar is struck down, and is rescued from death only by the heroic efforts of Raschid and Djan who bears his patron from the fray, and while Raschid fights for his life, with aid from Methomet, Djan returns to the fray and strikes the final blow. Mazanakils head flies from his shoulders.

By popular acclaim, Djan Is awarded mazanakils enchanted sword, and Raschid takes up his magic shield.

The following day, as Kuljazar arrives with reinforcements, the party ride back to AqQallat,to find it a smoking ruin! The huddled peasants tell awful tales of things in the night, which carried off all the bodies from the battle of the day before..

The Town submits to Turkhanate rule.

The Toad-demon shrine is fired, and reduced to rubble.

The assembled peasantry are mustered, and marched off the land towards Ilmanaran. Some take advantage of the night to flee into the wilderness..

Picking up a fresh body of a dozen men in Ilmanaran, the magi ride south to the village of Ghazri, where they demand the villages submission. Once again proof of mage right is asked for, and it is given in form of a fireball! The immediate assault lasts only as long as it takes the villagers to surrender, with those attempting to flee being run down and killed. Ghazri is effectively sacked. In the night, as the ret of the magi and troops sleep off their debauch, the two solitary guards are murdered, and the few surviving villagers flee into the night to brave the half-dead and the unknown terrors of the wilderness..

Sanuddar is next to be called on, where news of mazanakils defeat has arrived in advance. The he magi are hailed as rightful lords, and Sanuddar proclaims its loyalty.
